Google Assistant monitors our health and now allows us to know the quality of the air we breathe at home

Today we have seen how Alexa was prepared to acquire a greater mastery over the functions of the home (provided that it is intelligent with the right elements) thanks to the compatibility of the «Routines» with the musical collection that we can access from the equipment of audio we have at home. An example of the rapid evolution of virtual assistants.

Amazon is embroidering it with Alexa and the competition does not want to be left behind, so we also see how their proposals evolve with new additions and functionalities. It does Apple with Siri, Microsoft with Cortana and how it is now, the company of the big «G» with Google Assistant.

And now that we are looking to control our health, Google’s virtual assistant will offer us information regarding the quality of the air we breathe (at home and on the street). For this we will have to access Google Assistant on any compatible device and consult the terms «air quality»

In my case I have done the test at home Granada capital and well, it is not poor air quality that determines, but it is not the most optimal. And is that with this type of control the virtual assistant of Google informs us about the presence in the air we breathe of pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), ozone, nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx) and carbon dioxide or CO2, a potent greenhouse gas.

When making the query I obtained an Air Quality Index (ICA) value of 37. It is a measurement obtained from the measurement stations distributed in the cities, some of which appear in some web pages, serving in this example case to compare the eltiempo.es page.

In fact, just enter it to check and compare the results thrown by Google Assistant and those offered by the measurement stations. Some measures that make clear how bad the environment is in the big cities (and in the not so big, that Granada is small).

The results offered by Google Assistant vary depending on the location and always show the last measurement made in the closest environment. It offers us the information with the polluting element that predominates in the air at that time as well as advice in the event that the levels are too high.
